Auckland Castle Project

April 23, 2018

Our client Rainton Construction came to ourselves with somewhat of a head scratcher of a problem. As part of their package they had been given the brief of removing 20000 tonnes of old contaminated soil from the walled gardens and replacing with 20000 tonnes of new nutrient rich soil for the growing of vegetables and fruit for cooking in the many restaurants of the castle. To remove the soil the river Gaunless posed a natural barrier to the adjoining field, this would require a scaffold structure to support a conveyor navigating over the river into Bonkers field to the south. The structure would be built with a slope from the walled garden inclined over the river to accommodate the soil conveyed removal. Rainton’s would then reverse the conveyors to replace with new soil loading from Bonkers field!
